Alfonsa came to Toronto in 1969 and continued to design and manufacture women’s clothing. One day she was approached by an interior designer who was looking for a sewing workroom that could manufacture high quality custom drapery. With an open mind and an interest in interior design, she took on the work.

Alfonsa’s client list, as well as her reputation for high quality work grew until she was manufacturing drapery full time and needed more space. In 1994, the workroom moved to 220 Royal Crest Court in Markham and Starlight Drapery officially opened it’s doors. Starlight’s portfolio grew to include work for designers of estate homes to small homes, condos, model homes, office buildings, hotels and restaurants. In 2009 Starlight Drapery made the addition of a fabric resource centre where designers can source fabric from the industry’s most prevalent fabric suppliers. Drapery, upholster and outdoor fabric, decorative trim, wallpaper, drapery hardware and blinds can also be found in the Starlight Drapery Resource Center. Most recently, Starlight Drapery has made the addition of the Designer Drapery Program which was created to provide our clients with a simple and comprehensive way to design and order high quality custom drapery. Everything from selecting fabric to quoting custom sizes can be done using our catalogue.
